Leicester police are updating the livery of their marked police vehicles in order to make them more visible from the front.
They have added flutes in high visibility conspicuity material on either side of the bonnet running from below the windscreen to the front bonnet edge just above the headlamps and added rectangular blocks on the front lower bumper also under the headlamps.
This will ensure other road users, through their rear view mirrors and pedestrians will find it easily identifiable as a police vehicle from a distance.
The transport unit manager Mr Gary Linnett stated it was part of the force strategy on visual policing as well as increased safety for officers involved in operational duties.
The materials used as part of the police vehicle livery kits are Reflexite VC312 daybright microprismatic conspicuity reflective vinyl and non reflective fluorescent red vinyl.
